The Socialist group in the European Parliament this week an online petition for the decrease of VAT applied to condoms in Europe, a press release on the group's website informs.
The purpose of this campaign is to decrease the number of HIV / AIDS since, the group says, the condoms will be cheaper and more accessible though the VAT decrease. According to the existing data, the number of recorded infections is still growing. The VAT for condoms is currently between 5% and 20%.
