Competition on the Romanian telecom market is weak and there and factors indicating a collective dominance of the two main operators in the country, Vodafone and Orange, a study of the Romanian telecom market regulator ANRCTI says.
Official representatives told HotNews.ro that they would set up a market analysis and then they would take the necessary actions. On the other hand, company representatives argue that the Romanian market is highly competitive.

The conclusions belong to a study ran by ANRCTI in collaboration with consulting company TASC Strategic Consulting. The authors only presented the general findings, avoiding going into more sensitive details. The analysis is aimed at contributing to set up of the first regulating strategy in the telecom sector.


Vodafone and Orange representatives argue that the market is competitive enough and sustain that all the aspects need to be taken into consideration, like the huge investments made so far in the country.
Orange Romania head Thierry Millet says that the issue can be debated any moment but on real facts.

He argued that Orange invested some 1.2 billion euro in the country and that there are another four telecom operators on the market.
A similar stand was taken by the General Director of Vodafone, Ian Gray who argues that the presence of their company in Romania lead to serious investments in infrastructure facilities and not only.
